WIL GIVES BACK
We've chosen to sponsor Mustard Seed Shelter - But we need your help!
The votes are in, and out of 11 proposals Women in Leadership has decided to sponsor Mustard Seed Project for our WIL Gives Back project.
Mustard Seed Shelter has welcomed more than 1,000 women and children since 1995. They provide emergency shelter to more than 50 individuals per year and assisting over 90 each year with permanent housing. They are a homeless shelter located in the heart of Saginaw and serve both single women and women with children who are homeless for a variety of different reasons.
Because of their small home environment, they have the opportunity to help women rebuild their lives by helping them address both their crisis situation and the core reasons that led to their homelessness. They make sure that their guests have access to services they need to turn their lives around.
Mustard Seed Shelter is not directly connected with a church or other institution. Because of the way they fund their day-to-day operations, which includes accepting no government funding, their guests are able to stay for as long as they need to and are making progress. This is so important because years of dysfunction and brokenness cannot be healed in a set amount of days.
However, the need is there to help more people. Every day, they have to turn women and children away because our beds and the beds at other local shelters are full.
Women in Leadership has decided to sponsor a bedroom for Mustard Seed Shelter's new expansion. They will be adding an additional 10 rooms that they have already broke ground for.
With this partnership, WILGLBR committee members get full responsibility to decorate the room HOWEVER we want. From paint color, to comforter choices and beyond we get to make our mark on this community by offering a place of safety to other women.
We are currently looking for committee members to join this project. Those interested should reach out to Amy Buben at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As an organization we need to raise $5,000 to sponsor the room. We have voted as a board and decided that we will match up to $2,500 from all donations given. If you would please help us support this cause you can donate on our website, with "WIL Gives Back Project Donation" in the comment box.
If you donate $100 or more your name will be featured on the commemorative plaque that will be placed on the outside of our sponsored room.
Donations for projects are appreciated!
Please indicate "WIL Gives Back" in comments on donation page.
